"Factorized Relational Databases"

"Factorized Relational Databases"

-- Dan Olteanu, University of Oxford, UK

Abstract

In this talk I will present a representation system for relational data that uses factored forms to encode succinctly large relations.

This talk will address two main questions of interest:

  1. How compact can factorizations of results to conjunctive (aka select-project-join) queries really be?
  2. Can such factorizations speed up query evaluation?

This is joint work with my student Jakub Zavodny.
